About Darwin Trailer Boat Club! The Darwin Trailer Boat club is almost an institution in the top end. Since the inception of the club in 1958, there would be few long term Darwin residents who have not enjoyed the facilities of the club, whether it be for drinks, meal, entertaining visitor, fishing expedition or even the odd Thursday night feature movie and BBQ on the lawns.
The Club was the initiative of a handful of people interested in boating and fishing. The first official recording of a meeting was in May 1959 where the name “Darwin Trailer Boat Club” was proposed and accepted.
The original club house consisted of a caravan which was also used as a bar while the club was built, largely by volunteer labour. There have been many changes to the building visually but the club under the auspices of an elected council continues to meet the objective to foster and facilitate trailer boating and boating in general.
The club active members are the boat owners and they liaise with the council boating committee to organise safety and educational seminars, fishing trips and competitions.
The club provides a unique environment for members, their families and visitors to enjoy. These facilities range from, swimming pool, children’s playground, one of Darwin’s best club bistro “CeeCeas” and the finest beach front location to enjoy Darwin's famous sunsets.
The Darwin Trailer Boat Club runs annual events such as the Easter Family Day, Mother’s and Father’s Day, Darwin and Melbourne Cup, Christmas and New Year gatherings.
The annual Darwin Trailer Boat Club’s, October, “Blue Water Classics” is entering its fifth year and continues to gain support and recognition as a premier event in the Top End. Fishing enthusiasts from around Australia are clamouring to be involved.
