The Darwin Trailer Boat Club is hosting the 2009 Blue Water Classic, Darwin's only premier blue water fishing competition, on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October 2009 The competition is designed to cater for all levels of fishing skill using bait or lures. The Blue Water Classic is a release and weigh in event for specified species which include Marlin, Sailfish, Queenfish, Blue Salmon, Threadfin Salmon, Mangrove Jack, Coral Trout, Spanish Mackerel, Trevally, Tuna, Dolphin Fish, Cobia, Golden Snapper, Tricky Snapper, Estuary Cod, Black Jewfish, Parrot/Tusk Fish, Red Emperor. The Blue Water Classic is a family event and it is open to both Club members and the general public. There are a number of boat categories to accommodate different boat sizes. Families especially juniors (under 16) and women are encouraged to participate. All the popular categories including senior and junior sections; champion teams; champion female angler; a separate billfish section; and some mystery weights are all up for grabs.
Officials, organisers or sponsors accept no liability for any injury, loss, damage to any person or property in the course the competition whether such injury or loss is due to or is alleged to be due to any act, neglect or default of any official or agent. All competitors fully understand that in participating they do so entirely at their own risk and agree to abide by all rules and regulations of the competition and the Darwin Trailer Boat Club.
